MSMA 2nd Edition alignment — 3 new stormwater calculators

  • Audited every drainage calculator against MSMA 2nd Edition (2012). Replaced the IDF fitting constants (λ, κ, θ, η) with verbatim values from Table 2.B1 — the previous constants were mis-labelled across stations (e.g. the 'Kuala Lumpur' preset was actually carrying Johor Bahru's values). Expanded coverage to 13 major stations including Ibu Pejabat JPS, SK Kepong, Penang, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu, and Melaka.
  • Fixed a material Time-of-Concentration bug: the overland sheet flow formula (MSMA Table 2.1) requires slope in PERCENT, not m/m. Entering 1 % as 0.01 was producing tc values roughly 5× too large. Variable relabelled from Manning's n to Horton's n* (MSMA Table 2.2) with the correct 0.015–0.060 range.
  • Corrected the Culvert calculator reference from the non-existent 'Ch 36' to Chapter 18. Detention Pond reference moved from Ch 5 (OSD) to Ch 7.
  • New: On-Site Detention (OSD) calculator — simplified procedure per MSMA §5.8.3 using Table 5.A1 Five Design Regions. Pick region + terrain slope + impervious %, get PSD (L/s) and SSR (m³) with linear interpolation across the 25/40/50/75/90 % impervious bands.
  • New: Rainwater Harvesting Tank Sizing — MSMA Eq 6.1 (St = 0.01 × Ar) with AARY scaling from Table 6.4 for 17 Malaysian towns, plus first-flush volume from Table 6.3.
  • New: Bioretention Filter Bed Sizing — MSMA Eq 9.1 / 9.2 with automatic Water Quality Volume (40 mm 3-month ARI), permeability values from Table 9.7, and 24-hour emptying-time validation.
  • Added lib/msmaReferences.ts as a single source of truth for MSMA citations and data tables (Manning Table 2.3, Horton Table 2.2, runoff-C Table 2.5, OSD Table 5.A1, RWH Table 6.2/6.4, Bioretention Tables 9.6–9.7).

Role tagging and UX audit fixes shipped

  • Every calculator is now tagged as Consultant, Contractor, or both — filter the index by your role with the new 'I am a' selector, and see role chips on every card.
  • Fixed IDF Rainfall Intensity: duration is now correctly converted from minutes to the MSMA HP1 published form (hours). Kuala Lumpur 10-yr / 60-min intensity now reads within the expected 70–90 mm/hr band (previously under-reported by a factor of ~30).
  • New on-brand 404 page with a search box, 'Browse All Calculators' CTA, and a 'Report a broken link' shortcut that pre-fills the feedback form.
  • Fixed broken URL /calculators/concrete/rc-beam — now redirects to the correct /calculators/concrete/beam-moment page.
  • Every calculator now has a 'Reset inputs' button in the save bar to clear all fields at once.
  • Each result card now shows a condensed BEM disclaimer line and a 'Calculated HH:MM' timestamp so you always know the result reflects your current inputs.
  • Navigation now highlights your current section with an amber underline, and the homepage 'Explore Calculators' CTA is given clearer visual priority.
  • Homepage 'Request a Calculator' card now opens the feedback form with the category and a request template pre-filled.
